Informations locales

Surrounded by three mountain ranges; The Nebrodi and The Madonie to the North and The Erei to the South, the province of Enna boasts a diverse and distinctive landscape, characterised by mountain peaks, valleys, rivers, streams and lakes as well as ancient hilltop towns that slope gently towards the wide plains of the Province of Catania.
The settlement of Enna has ancient roots and many of its monumental remains are still visible. On the highest part of the rocky outcrop on which Enna is built is the so called ‘Rocca di Cerere’ where a monumental sanctuary was dedicated to Demetra (Ceres in Latin), the  goddess of the harvest and soil fertility. Nearby stands ‘Lombardy castle’, one of the oldest defensive structures known in Sicily. The Cathedral of Enna is also worth a visit, built in 1307, it is where the treasure of the ‘Madonna della visitazione’, the patron saint of the town, is kept. In the western part of the town is the so called ‘Federico’s tower’, a perfectly preserved example of an octagonal tower built in the Svevo-Aragon style. Among the other historic buildings are ‘Palazzo Pollicarini (XIV century) and Palazzo Varisano, which is now the home of the town’s  archaeological museum.
Only five kilometres from Enna, surrounded by a green and rich forest, is Lake Pergusa, one of the best kept secrets and resorts for tourists in the region. Famous as the home of the most important racing track of Southern Italy that hosts important national and international events; the lake is also protected due to its extraordinary environmental importance. Lake Pergusa is one of the few natural lakes left in Sicily; it is unique as it is formed by a high water table and rain water, rather than by a spring. It is a strategic stopping place in the migratory movements of many bird species that spend the winter here,  nesting on the lake’s shores.
Only 18km from Enna along the motorway to Catania (A19) is the settlement of Dittaino; one of the largest Shopping Outlets in Southern Italy, ‘Sicilia Fashion Village’, which boasts the best Italian and international brands.

Description

Sicily - Enna - the historic centre of this small town, a building made of bare stone, yellow and coarse, like the rich farmed soil of the lands that surround it.
Nested inside this sturdy 19th century building is a small, charming Bed & Breakfast.
A light and bright place that has been carefully and tastefully refurbished by the owners; you'll feel welcome in these genuine surroundings created to offer a quiet and relaxing stay. Even if you are coming for a brief work trip, you will find the sort of comfort that is more usual for longer leisurely stays.
Our guests will be able to take their breakfast in an extremely pleasant and bright space, as Bianko&Bianko has been designed with a gentle reinterpretation of traditional Sicilian style in mind.
